Experience

While Econcept is relatively new, several projects have already been undertaken. These include:
Participation in the development of an HSE training module for the Petroleum Safety Authority, Norway.

Guest lecturer at the University in Stavanger (UiS), Norway, in a Master Course about Arctic Petroleum Technology. Lectures, case studies and exercises were undertaken regarding environmental and social issues in the Arctic.

The University of the Arctic (UArctic), a cooperative international network of over 120 universities, colleges, and other organizations committed to higher education and research in the North have asked to develop and implement a strategy to approach the industry for funding.

Support of a large engineering company to adequately reflect lender requirements during the ESIA process for a large oil pipeline project in a former Soviet Union country.
 the consultancy Dr. Heike Pflästerer has gained significant project experience in previous assignments in the oil and gas sector. This includes extensive project work in Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazahkstan, Venezuela, Brazil, Norway, Alaska, Albania, Greece and Italy, amongst others.

Selected references from such previous assignments include:

  • HSE manager position covering health, safety, security and environmental issues as well as ethics for a 500 km gas pipeline project from south-eastern Europe into Italy. The work included leading a team of experts, participation in project management and integration of HSE issues with technical planning.
  • HSE manager position for an oil and gas licensing round in Alaska. The work included identification of HSE risks, potential impacts and possible mitigation measures to support the management in decision-making. Included was also the identification of necessary research and development (R&D) as well as strategic advice regarding HSE to position the company.
  • HSE manager position for the development of a huge gas field in the Russian Barents Sea, including a pipeline to shore, coastal facilities and tanker transportation. The work included consideration of the entire range of risks and potential mitigation measures, establishment of work programs, stakeholder engagement and internal documentation to support the management in decision-making.
  • Project manager for various environmental impact assessments for oil fields and export pipelines in Azerbaijan and partly Georgia. The work also included extensive field survey work onshore and offshore.

Earlier work experience include geological work in Namibia, Zanskar (NW India) and Tibet. Activities related to eco-tourism were carried out in Botswana and South Africa.
